Insurance

When a patient meets the medical criteria for morbid obesity, Medicare, HMOs and many private insurance companies may cover surgical treatment. If your insurance does not cover the treatment of morbid obesity, there are financing options available. If you have questions regarding insurance coverage and benefits, call (713) 944-2240 or email one of our qualified bariatric specialists for more information.

Pre-Surgery

Our team of weight loss surgery professionals, registered dietitians, psychologists, and surgeons will help you determine if weight loss surgery is right for you. They will determine if the benefits of surgery outweigh the risks and assess if you are medically ready to undergo the procedure. The team considers:

  • Medical conditions and history
  • Nutrition and dietary history
  • Psychological status
  • Motivation
  • Age

The first step in the pathway to bariatric surgery is to attend one of our free informational seminars. During this session, we will discuss the history and implications of obesity, the options in treatment and the risks and complications of surgery. We will introduce you to what to expect after surgery and answer any questions you may have. Once it is determined if surgery is a good fit for you then you will have a surgical consultation with one of our bariatric surgeons and begin the journey to a healthier life.

Post-Surgery

Surgery is only a part of the solution. The path towards a healthier lifestyle will have challenges. Our program is designed to provide support at every step of your journey. Studies have shown behavior modification is one of the most critical components to any weight loss strategy.

Changing behaviors related to eating, exercising and weight control is an obvious challenge. Change does not happen overnight. HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast understands these issues

and has assembled a dedicated team to make your program successful. Your multi-disciplinary team will include surgeons, bariatric nurses, dietitians, mental health professionals, exercise specialists, bariatric advocates and other medical specialists who offer continuous compassionate support and guidance in a respectful environment. The focus is to help each patient establish and achieve realistic goals.

The key factor to improving health is sustained weight loss. Conquering obesity is about restoring and preserving your health, extending your life and improving the quality of your life. Call the (713) 944-2240 for additional information.
